Gentler on my skin than retinol
I’ve been trying to use more retinol lately, but it is pretty harsh on my sensitive skin. So I decided to try this alternative. Bakuchiol is supposed to be a gentler form of retinol. I’ve used this for a few weeks now and I’m pleased with it. Not near as much irritation as before. I have also noticed my skin looks more supple. I’m excited to use this long term to see how it works!

Good cream, interesting scent
The first thing I noticed about this skin cream is the unusual scent - sort of fruity but also a bit floral, and it reminds me a little of plums. The cream itself is somewhere between a gel and cream in consistency, it goes on smoothly and absorbs well. I like that it includes Centella, which reduces redness from irritation (in my case flare-ups of rosacea).

Great cream, but wish it was in airtight pump container
I really like this bakuchiol "plant retinol" cream! It's pleasant on my face, hasn't made me break out, and isn't drying. The subtle purple and floral smell is also nice, but not overpowering. I'm not entirely sure what "tension wrap" is supposed to do, but it's a nice addition to my skincare routine. However, I really don't like having to open up the jar entirely and stick my finger (or use a disposable applicator) in it - air exposure will cause these products to go bad eventually! I may decant this myself into a vacuum bottle, but I wish the manufacturer would have gone with that option.

Bakuchiol is extracted from the seeds of a plant grown in India that’s been a staple of traditional Indian Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for many years. There are only limited studies compared to retinol, but it’s supposed to work as well and be a gentler alternative. Since my wife uses retinol products, I thought she’d like to try this. The first night she used it, she commented that it smelled nice, was super creamy, and felt very smooth on her face. To my eye, it seemed that immediately after application, her skin looked smoother and… whiter. It was just that the cream hadn’t rubbed in completely, not that it bleached her skin, but it didn’t seem to absorb as quickly as other creams. The next morning, I asked her if she noticed anything different about the cream, or if her skin felt different from other creams. She said no. The complete transformation to 16% firmer skin and pore tightening supposedly takes two weeks, but I didn’t want to wait two weeks before reviewing. So flash forward to Day 9 when I asked again. I was surprised to hear that she does believe her pores have tightened a little. So there you go; this stuff might actually work. Either way, she believes it does and is happy with it. And you know what they say—happy wife, happy life. I hope this helps.

CHARMZONE Bakuchiol WaterWrap Tension Cream reminds me of some water creams I've tried. It's definitely not at all greasy and doesn't leave behind any slippery feeling on your skin. This cream worked very well under makeup. The cream does have a bit of a scent, so be aware of that if you're particular about smells. For some reason, I'm unreasonably fond of the jar colors - the purple and yellow just look so happy! This cream would be great for anyone with oily skin and also great for those sweaty summer months.

Excellent moisturizer for oily skin
Charmzone is a classical brand in South Korea, it has been in the market like forever. I remember my mom used to use their massage cream and I was really surprised that they introduced such a "young" looking light textured product. Ingredients: It's based with centella asiatica extract, and contains 0.5% of the bakuchiol. I am not a big fan of bakuchiol - not because they are irritating or bad, but I prefer something works faster. So I prefer retinol products over bakuchiol based ones. It also contains some ceramides & fatty acids and hyaluronic acids but their concentrations is rather negligible. Anyhow, it's a very clean product and used 1,2 hexanediol for preservative. Texture: It has very typical watery cream texture. The product absorbed really quick, and it leaves thin-film like layer in a good way. So this product leaves skin hydrated and glow, and works great under makeup. Effectiveness: For hydration, it is surprisingly good considering its texture. I have dry skin but with some hyaluronic acid serum it worked well. Of course, it's nothing like super rich, wax based product but still it was good. I think it will work well with oil / combination skin as well.

My Skin is So Soft Now :)
It has a light floral “makeup” scent to it. It’s lightly greasy, just barely. It makes my skin feel really smooth and soft. I like that. It’s smooth and soft but I’m not sure it’s really hydrated. The floral scent isn’t strong in the jar, but feels stronger now that I’ve rubbed it in. I really like the way my skin feels. It’s almost velvety smooth, I think. After about five minutes I don’t feel greasy or anything at all but I feel smooth. It takes a bit longer than that for the scent to totally go away. My skin hasn’t become itchy or irritated with this. It didn’t sting or burn either. It doesn’t come with a safety seal, but there is a smaller plastic lid inside the yellow screw top lid to prevent spills. Oh, but the cardboard box is sealed. The expiration date on my box is 2025.08.30 (so August 30th, 2025). Nice!
